Position: Solution Architect

Location: Columbus, OH (Locals preferred)

Duration: 6++Months

Experience: 8+ Yrs

Solutions Architect for a 6+ month contract in Columbus, OH.  The Solution Architect serves as a primary resource for project teams by performing analysis and design tasks to develop flexible and scalable IT solutions to support business initiatives.  The Solution Architect will define the conceptual and solution architecture for assigned IT projects while ensuring alignment and leverage of enterprise solution patterns, technical roadmaps, standards, and architectural methodologies.  The Solution Architect will develop high level cost estimates, support the business case development for initiatives, work with Enterprise Architecture for selection and evaluation of new technologies, and review all project architecture deliverables to ensure alignment with the enterprise solution architecture.  Additionally, the Solution Architect will develop, support, and maintain the processes necessary to ensure that projects align with enterprise architecture.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Research technical solutions for specific business and technical challenges.
• Select and implement optimal technical solutions for assigned projects that are aligned to the Enterprise Solution Architecture; considering functional requirements, cost, complexity, and risk.
• Develop technical road maps that align their business and technical requirements with those of the corporation.
• Advise professionals (project managers and business analysts) on tools, technology, and methodology related to the design and development of IT solutions and participates in the evaluation and selection of technology standards.
• Supports the definition of architecture, guidelines, standards, strategies, and policies within the various IT architecture domains (in-depth knowledge in a minimum of two domains including Infrastructure, Application, Network, Security, Integration, and Information required; with working knowledge of others.)
• Maintain knowledge of market trends and developments in server hardware, software, data center management, and related and emerging technologies, to provide, recommend, and deliver best practice solutions and standards for the business
• Utilize project management best practices to ensure projects and deliverables are completed on time and within budget
• Deliver results in an environment consisting of diverse global and Matrixed partners; including non-dedicated resources.
• Ability to manage many simultaneous technical projects and initiatives.

EXPERIENCE / SKILLS

• Minimum of 7 years of technical experience in Information Technology.
• Ability to partner across Corporate IT, business, and partner teams to solve business problems.
• Excellent analytical and technical skills required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Ability to estimate the financial impact of architecture alternatives required.
• Ability to rapidly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new and/or emerging technologies.
• Familiarity with information systems and architecture practices (e.g. ITIL, CMMI, TOGAF, and Zachman) preferred.
• Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and heterogeneous processing environments required.
• Experience with Microsoft, Oracle, Sun, and Cisco technologies and applications preferred.
• ERP, PLM, and other global application deployments preferred.
